Hino da Real

Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Hino da Real (English: Royal hymm), is the national anthem of the Kingdom of Coventrey. The song was originally composed in 1830 in honour of the accession of Pedro III to the Coventrian throne. The song was not officially proclaimed as the national anthem until several years later in 1838 with the issue of a decree of the Privy Council. The Hino da Real remains the national anthem of the kingdom in the present.

O Country, King, and people, rise
For amber waves of grain,
For beautiful spacious skies,
Above the fruited plain!
Rise for Coventrey! Rise!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy king with glory
From mountaintop to shining sea!

O fair people of Coventrey
Rise and hail your noble king,
Through his strong and passionate line
Coventrian freedom will forever shine
Never shall the house of Porter rest
Until the country's people are at their best
Rise up O Coventrey! O Coventry!
For the beauty of this land
Rise up for thy noble king
For that is god's plan!

O beautiful and noble people
Rise and acclaim your noble king
Long will he reign beyond years
From wooded forests to alabaster cities
And at his demise with peoples tears
A new king shall rise
O Coventrey! O Coventry!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy king with glory
From mountaintop to shining sea!
