History of the Freethinker Commonwealth

Jump to navigation Jump to search

The History of the Freethinker Commonwealth is comprised primarily of the struggle of the Freethinkers to retain their independence and the efforts of the Kingdom of Midlonia to hold onto and regain what was formally its greatest colony. As such, relations between the two nations and the events thats inevitably followed have shaped both the Freethinker society and its view of the world.

Beyond its past, the Commonwealth has sought to establish its place in the world. A new expansionist bent has seen the country rise from former colony into a genuine world power in its own right.

The Present

The Commonwealth's entry into the Concordat was generally expected if somewhat illtimed given the recent breakup of the Concordat of Hermes. The Commonwealth's close relations with two of the primary states involved in the alliance, Midlonia and ZMI, ensured acceptance and rapid integration.

Freethinker colonisation of space was conducted as well, and a significant aerospace expansion was conducted, using the expertise and equipment of allied states, that saw the creation of an entirely new operational command under the Ministry of Defence, comprised of a fleet of warships and the creation of both a infantry arm and powerful ground defence installations. Colonialistion efforts successfully brought two colony systems under the control of the Commonwealth, Heraklion and Gamma.
