The Hoshiokan Empire consists of sixty-three prefectures in seven regions: Yosaika, Kanminami, Kyoete, Yamasugi, Natsukuni, Shitsujima, and Maeryodo.

Economy

The Hoshiokan Empire is one of the largest economies in the world, with a GDP in terms of purchasing power parity of RZ$ 4.9 trillion. Hoshioko has a significant industrial base, and is home to some of the world's leading defence, ship building, steel, electronics, capital goods, and chemical industries. The Hoshiokan merchant marine is the largest in the world, with [TBD] million deadweight tons of shipping. The Hoshiokan economy is significantly shaped by geography. Nearly all industrial and financial institutions are located on the Hoshiokan Home Islands, with territories in Shitsujima most focused on agriculture and mining. Due to the terrain of the Home Islands, these industries are heavily concentrated into both the Yosaika and Kanminami regions, with these two regions accounting for almost half of Hoshiokan GDP.

The Hoshiokan economy is dominated by the zaibatsu (財閥, lit. "financial clique"), large conglomerates of vertically integrated industries, whose size and influence enable them to exercise significant control over the economy and hold a significant presence in the government. The largest four zaibatsu, the Matsumoto Group, the Kawakami Group, the Ito Group, and the Yonezu Group, are the most prominent, but smaller cliques are commonly also considered zaibatsu. Most zaibatsu consist of a single holding company, which then owns controlling portions of several subsidiaries. Most all zaibatsu contain a banking insitution for internal financing, and several subsidiaries for the various industries they are involved in. Zaibatsu influence extends deep into the Hoshiokan government, with specific zaibatsu often tied to a particular political party or organisation. Many former chairmen of zaibatsu go on to hold consultancy positions on the Privy Council, providing unofficial advice to the Emperor.

Hoshioko's primary imports are energy products, foodstuffs, and raw materials for industry. Major Hoshiokan exports include capital goods, finished products, chemicals, electronics, aircraft, ships, and defence equipment.

The main Hoshiokan currency is the koban, which generally trades at rates of around HS交100 to the RZ$.
