House of Koháry

The House of Koháry is one of the prominent royal houses in the Noble Republic of Hétumoger and are currently poised as one of the most influental families of Nemesség in the country. Currently the House of Koháry holds a seat in the Országgyűlés and have held the seat of the Fourth Képviselő. Their current Először Nemesség is Zgismond Koháry III.

The House of Koháry rose to prominence as a Banking family under Zgismond Koháry I, the considered progenitor of the Koháry. Zgismond worked as a banker for the then Monarch of Hétumoger during the First Kingdom of Hétumoger. The male and female lines gradually prospered under the First Kingdom until they were able to establish the Bank of Veszprém. Overtime the family became more independent from the bank but retained their political and economic importance. It was not until 1581 where Katalin Koháry I, as the Először Nemesség of Koháry, was awared the Estate of Nagyatád and her husband, József Koháry, was awared the Estate of Szitnya. The House of Koháry was one of the Seven War Families that took part in the overthrowing of the Second Kingdom of Hétumoger during the Noble Revolution.
