From the 1920s to 1970s the Sperfond was instrumental in slum clearance projects, particularly in Stanmer where many low-quality workers' houses had been built in the early days of the Industrial Revolution. In some cases, the HHSF coordinated comprehensive redevelopment of very large areas, such as in Wohldon, where the municipality was too poor to do so itself. As a result, it owns many properties in Ejsdeden sink estates.
