The Idacuan Revolutionary Army (Sylvan: Ejército Revolucionario Idacuano, ERI), until 1986 known as the Idacuan Army, is the ground forces branch of the Idacuan Armed Forces. It is historically the oldest of Idacua's military services, and is headquartered at the Army Command Complex at 22 Valente Street in the national capital of Guacara. Apart from the main ground warfare forces, the Army also includes three sub-branches: the Army Aviation Corps, the Army Airborne Forces Command and the Army Engineering Corps. As of 2019, the Army employs 340,000 personnel. As with the majority of Idacua's military, the ERI is composed mostly of conscripts between the ages of 18 and 30. However, it includes an increasing number of professional troops since the 2010 Military Reforms, currently at 30,000 personel.
Structure
Combat Forces
The Army's main combat forces are grouped into ten Army Corps that are deployed throughout Idacua, each having roughly 30,000 personnel. Each Corps contains a Corps HQ, a Signal Battalion, a Military Police Battalion, two Motorised Infantry Brigades, two Mechanised Infantry Brigades, an Armoured Brigade, an Artillery Brigade, an Air Defence Brigade and an Engineer Brigade. In total, the Army's main combat troops are composed of 20 Motorised Infantry Brigades, 20 Mechanised Infantry Brigades, 10 Armoured Brigades, 10 Artillery Brigades, 10 Air Defence Brigades as well as 10 Engineer Brigades. Due to the Brigade-centric organisation of the ERI, the Army Corps act more as operational commands that can alocate additional support rather than mauenuver formations. Each Motorised/Mechanised/Armoured Brigade includes its own intigral fire support, logistical and engineering units.
Army Engineering Corps
The Army Engineering Corps (Sylvan: Cuerpo de Ingeniería del Ejército) provides construction, engineering and maintenance services to the combat forces as needed. The Army Engineering Corps includes four Construction and Maintenance Regiment alongside the Corps HQ. Additionally, the Corps also commands two Railroad Engineering Regiment that are tasked with the maintenance, operation and if necessary, the expansion of the military railroad network of the Federal Socialist Republic. The Army Engineering Corps is also known to take part in civillian works, aiding with the construction and maintenance of civillian buildings and other projects.
