The Independent Republic of Boldonia National Guard (Abbreviated: IRBNG) is a gendarmerie and national guard that is responsible for carrying out law enforcement and special military duties across the entire Independent Republic of Boldonia. The IRBNG does not replace local and state law enforcement agencies but rather supplements them. The entire country is under a system of shared law as it is referred to by the government, where both military and local law enforcement operate simultaneously.

Organization

The National Guard is divided into 9 divisions, one for each state, which is further split into different units. The largest division is the Florsid Division with 19 units, and the smallest is the Eastisle North Division with only 2 units. The National Guard is administered by both the Department of Defense and the Unified Boldonian Law Enforcement Command (UBLEC), the UBLEC administers day to day affairs of the National Guard while the DOD handles funding and takes control in the event full martial law is declared.

Duties

Law Enforcement

The Independent Republic of Boldonia operates on shared law, where both the National Guard and local law enforcement enforce the law simultaneously. While not always the case, the National Guard mostly enforces near government centers, airports, ports, and highways leaving the rest to local law enforcement. Another law enforcement duty comes in the form of special weapons and tactics. The National Guard (specifically the Federal Special Weapons and Tactics division) handles all SWAT and riot control matters in the country instead of civilian law enforcement.

National Defense

The National Guard also acts as a home defense force to defend from invasion in coordination with the other branches of the IRBMF. In this role the National Guard is a secondary, with the main three branches (ground forces, air forces, and naval forces) acting as the primary line of defense.

Equipment

The National Guard is usually issued the same weaponry as the rest of the military with some excaptions. While the official service rifle for all branches is the Styer AUG the National Guard commonly uses the G36C or M4 carbine due to their shorter length. The standard patrol vehicle for the National Guard is the Ford Explorer, replacing the older M1161 Growler that was less suited to law enforcement roles. The National Guard also operates several LAV-25 IFVs for usage in national defense and riot control.
