Ishiritolai

The Ishiritolai, knwon in Imerian as the Ishirlings and in Zunthal as the Ta'Ishiri is one of the six recognised dawn noble houses (Imerian; Gryningsadel) that can trace their linage back to the history of the old religious scriputre, out of the six recognised houses (Stjärnkhrone, Nordberga, Svart, Laf, Ta’Sarshi, and the Ishiritolai) is the Ishiritolai quite unquie, they are with the Ta'Sarshi the only non-Scanderan house with this venerable antiquity to their name, they are the only house that is religious in it's origin, it is the only one that claim divine heritiage as their founders, and it is the only one that has the right to have inheritance be traced exclusively through the maternal line. As a house do they trace their lineage to the goddess Ishiri and the mythical hero "Karrika!" who is often seen as the first initiate into the mysteries. Their eldest daughter is then classified as the first Isiritolai and from whom the house use as their second oldest member.

Religious Duties

Exactly what the house's duties or even their position in the religious hierarchy remains a bit unclear to outsiders, most federal subjects assume based on the Imerian tradition that closely links authority and birthright that the house is the political and spiritual leadership of the faith and the absolute guardian of the mysteries. However some evidence that suggest that this is not the case and the house might simply act as the spokesperson or just a figurehead of the faith, while some scholars would sugest that a mixture of the two postions are true and religious authority is held by the house however the priesthood remains some rather heavy checks and balances.

What is however known is that the matriarch of the house takes on the title of "The daughter" or "Ka karkor" and is a very important person in various rituals carried out in public where she is used as a repersentation of the goddess in various religious sacrifices, plays, and musical performaces dedicated to the goddess and it is assumed that she also spend an important part of various religious ceremonies in private too.

Household

What is however known is that the house put their home in Imerbürg under the protection of the Stjärnkhrone dynasty and has done so since eröfringstiden, intermarriages between the two houses have been common and the two houses has a rather complicated relationship where the Ishritolai has at times provided logical leaders for resistance against Scanderan dominance but they have also been able to use their position at the court to become the unofficial power behind the throne at times of weak high king. Similarly have there been times when the daughter has been the sister of the reigning high king.

To date do the house maintain vast holdings and stick to their own cultural identity rather than having been scanderianized, their palace in Imerburg is by tradition guarded by members of the high guard similarly to the Stjärnkhrone house and despite not being Scanderan are daughters and sons very often appointed to high civilian and military positions alike. In the buissness sphere are the house also very activie with several corporations beging held by them giving them a rather high elective weight in the royal merchant guild.

As for inheritance do the house follow it's own unqiue traditions and do not follow traditional federal inheritance law, quite the opposite are legal exceptions made for the Ishiritolai to allow them to follow their own traditions. Inheritance is for starters matriarchal and males may never be the head of the house, similarly are the Scanderan tradition of eldest first but the son of a king comming before the son of a prince ignored entirely and instead is a partial meritocracy where a successor is chosen as far as the children of cousins of the current matriarch and the woman of that group that has reached the highest levels of the mysteries is then appointed the head of the household. Would they not be involved enough in the mysteries would their roll in the church be unfilled and while they would be matriarch of the house would they not be The daugher of the faith. Instead would the matriarch be taken away for intense studies in the faith until it is deemed that they have reached a suficient enough knowledge of the mysteries. At least that is the current theory as this is not proven nor anything the church has said as official are the chosen successor always of a high enough knowledge to take up their religious duties.
