Jacques II (Hesperic: Jacques Marie Eduard Louis Conrad, born 19 January 1942) is the sovereign and head of state of Hesperia. He has reigned since 17 June 1960. The eldest son of Louis X, he was born, with an elder sister, in a period of governmental uncertainty during the reign of the fascist Hesperic League. He is known for his staunch stance against climate change, and characterised by his popularity, he has become one of the most powerful figures in the country.

Childhood

Jacques, Duke of Sully, was born on 19 January 1942 in Geurdin Palace accompanied by his mother Mary, Princess of Hoel, in an area of the country controlled by the Hesperic Free State. He was the second child of King Louis X, and subsequently abdicated the title of Duke of Sully to his son. When Jacques was four, he was enrolled at a private school, one that had just opened per the advent of the Reconstruction Era.

Education

Jacques ended secondary school in 1958, and subsequently received his baccalaureate. He was not able to attend university.

Ascension

On the 1 August 1960, Jacques, Duke of Sully, became Jacques II of Hesperia. Before this point, the country was ruled by Louis X, who led the country through the Third Voshan War. The Royal Family and several other nobles attended, and was publicised across the world.

Reign

His early reign following 1960 was not very eventful, as the Reconstruction Era did not allow for royal prerogatives to attended to as per the Reconstruction Act of 1944. However, by 1962, as the Act was gutted, the Monarchy had began to intervene in legislation again, as it had considerable residual powers. From 1962 to 1967, he had become a significant figure in the Royal Family due to constitutional reform that strengthened his position. In 1968, after scandals rocked the nation regarding a relationship with his now-wife Charlotte of Tusont.

In 1967, Jacques married Charlotte of Tusont in a ceremony that lasted days. Jacques and Charlotte exercised their royal prerogative for several years. In 1996, he was nominated Hero of the Year in the Hesperia Direct Newspaper, after donating money to the sick and homeless. By 2000, he played a role in forming the newest coalition government after the 1999 general election. In 2010, he became Head of the Principal Alliance for Peace.
