Jane I (Jane Cassidy Maeve, born August 23, 1990) is Queen of Tír Glas and the other realms of the Glasic Commonwealth
Jane was born in Avallone as the first child of the Queen Katherine I and Prince John. She attended school at the Somhairle Public School in Avallone and later went on to study at University College Avallone. Her mother acceded to the throne on the death of her father King Charles II in 1980, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties after leaving university, before joining the Royal Glasic Air Force and serving on fast jets until in 2015, her mother due to the onset of ill health abdicated ascending Jane to the throne.
Upon the abdication of her mother, she became Head of the Commonwealth and queen regnant of Tír Glas and five independent Commonwealth countries: Tír Tairngire, Tír an Crainn, Tír Ealga, Crioch Fuinidh and Tír an Faill.
Since her ascension to the Throne Jane has occasionally faced republican sentiments and press criticism, notably from the Skellige Republican Movement but more often due to her lack of a spouse or children. However, support for the monarchy remains high, as does her personal popularity.
Early Life
Jane was born at 05:55 (SMT) on 23 August 1990, during the reign of her mother, Katherine I. Her father, Prince John was notable for being a commoner, the eldest son of a Royal Crainnic Navy officer and himself one. Her mother, was the only child of Charles II. She was delivered naturally in the Palace of Avallone. She was named Jane after the last queen of Tír Glas before Anglian annexation, Cassidy after her grandmother, who had died some six months prior, and Maeve after the legendary Queen responsible for establishing the Glasic Diarchy.
Jane's only sibling, Niamh, was born in 1994. The two princesses were both educated at Somhairle and Avallone.
Heir Apparent
During her mother's reign, Jane was first in the line of succession to the throne. Although her birth generated public interest, she was not expected to become queen for many years, as Katherine I was still comparatively young. Many people believed she would marry and have children of her own. The subsequent ill health and resultant abdication of her mother forced an as-yet unmarried and childless Jane further into the public spotlight than she already had been with the media's portrayal of her as a glamorous fighter pilot.
Jane studied history and politics at University College Avallone at the behest of her parents to better prepare her for the day when she would inevitably become queen prior to her learning to fly.
Military Service
During her final year at university Jane made it clear that she wished to serve in one of the services, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather (who at the time, due to a lack of active monarchy) served during the Glaso-Dayanese war. She joined the Royal Glasic Air Force (ARTG), training as a pilot. After passing-out in October 2014 she joined I./Scuardrún and after conversion started flying the Goshawk (Spioróg mhór), she would continue to fly these aircraft until September 2015 having seen action over Tir Tairngire where she carried out close air support operations during the Jedorian-Tairngiric border crisis, commonly known as the border war.
Reign
Accession and coronation
During September 2015 Queen Katherine suffered a brain haemorrhage, whilst not succumbing to the haemorrhage her health was too poor to continue to reign. Jane, who was in Tír Tairngire at the time was rushed back to Avallone. Upon her return her private secretary, presented her a draft accession declaration, a week after returning home the news of Jane's immediate accession to the throne was televised to Tír Glas and the world. Her secretary asked for her choice of regnal name; she chose to remain Jane, stating that it was the name her mother gave her and the name she would continue to use. She was proclaimed queen throughout her realms on September 9th 2015
Despite the re-hospitalisation of Queen Katherine on the 9th of May, the coronation went ahead as planned, as Katherine had asked Jane to not let her poor health disrupt events. The coronation held in Avallone, with the exception of some parts of the ceremony, was televised around the world. Jane's coronation gown was at her request devoid of ornamentation being relatively plain being made of blue satin patterned with intricate knot-work and horses, both traditional Glasic symbols.
2016
The newly crowned queen began 2016 by embarking on a world tour with her sister Niamh to affirm her commitment to the same causes as her mother. Notable visits included those to Chernyakhov, Dayashina, Letnia and Anglia. The tour was conducted alongside her younger sister HRH Niamh, Princess of Skellige whom the new queen was and is inseparable from.
Public perception and character
Prior to becoming queen, Jane had been interviewed several times, primarily in regard to her military career and supported charities. Since becoming queen very little has changed other than not disclosing her political views. local or global. She, unlike her mother is not religious but prides herself on keeping her oath to the people, demonstrating support for inter-faith relations and promoting acceptance across the Commonwealth.
Now queen, she is the patron of over a thousand charities across the Commonwealth. Her main leisure interests include horse riding, heritage railways and gardening. As a young and attractive fighter pilot Jane has been glamourised by the media prior to her ascension to the throne something she has been openly disparaging of.
Public perception of the royal family has continued to be good since her ascension to the throne with the public’s perception of Jane and Niamh specifically remaining high, the two are seen by many as a double act of sorts remaining inseparable at all but the most formal of occasions, a poll in 2018 showed her approval rating of 93%.
Finances
The Reid family fortune as a whole has been the subject of speculation for many years however Jane has been relatively open with her finances being worth around $580 million her personal collection includes various historic works of art, private properties, three steam locomotives and several classic aircraft. Additionally the royal estates themselves have holdings of in excess of $15 billion but cannot be sold in a personal capacity by Jane.

Jane holds various honorary and military titles throughout the Commonwealth as well as a recipient of honours from elsewhere around the world. In each of her realms she has a distinct title though similar in structure. For example. Queen of Tír an Crainn and her other realms and territories in Tír an Crainn. Whilst conversing with the Queen, standard practice is to initially address her as Your Grace and for the remainder of the conversation as Ma’am.
