Kasema is the largest city in Kyti, with a population of 1,222,000. The city is located in the interior of the country at the foothills of the East Nortuan Alps, and was the first Kytian capital from 1811 to 1902. The city used to be a major Nortuan political center. Kasema is sometimes called "the cradle of Kytian liberty" for having been the birthplace and home of notable individuals who contributed to formation of the Democratic Republic. Even though much of its political significance and importance has been lost, Kasema became a major Nortuan crossroad for industry, commerce and trade, and is part of the famous "industrial triangle" along with Leades (Versenia) and Susitok (North Shebat). Kasema is also home to much of the Kytian automotive industry.

The city has a rich culture and history, being known for its numerous art galleries, restaurants, churches, palaces, opera houses, piazzas, parks, gardens, theatres, libraries, museums and other venues. Kasema is well known for its architecture. Many of Kasema's public squares, castles, gardens and elegant palazzi such as the Palaz Narona, were built between the 16th and 18th centuries. In addition, the city is home to museums such as the Muse Naam and the Uole Antonelliana which in turn hosts the Muse Nazional del Cinema. Kasema's attractions make it one of the world's top 250 tourist destinations and the most visited city in Kyti. The city also hosts some of Kyti's best universities, colleges, academies, lycea and gymnasia, such as the University of Kasema, founded in the 15th century, and the Kasema Polytechnic. The city also hosted the 2021 Winter Olympics.
