Keonaona Keone is a Kalean activist, philanthropist, lawyer, and politician. He was born in Kauai, 'Akau, Kalea on 17 December 1962. He served as Co-Chair of the Kalean Legislative Assembly until he was asked to resign amidst a political scandal.

Early life and education

Keone was born on 22 May 1974 in the city of Lihue on the island of Kauai in the province of 'Akau. He attended the 'Akau Provincial College, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. He then went on to attend law school at the University of Kamea, where he earned his Juris Doctorate. After completing his education, Keone moved to Heiau and began his career as a lawyer, specializing in civil rights and labor law.

Early work and political involvement

In 2004, Keone became involved in local politics, running for a seat on the Heiau Municipal Council. He was successful in his campaign and served on the council for four years.

Political career

In 2010, Keone ran for and was elected to the Hema Provincial Legislature, representing the 6th Municipal District. During his time in the Legislature, he focused on issues such as education reform, affordable housing, and workers' rights. He quickly gained a reputation as a strong advocate for the people of Kalea, and he was re-elected to the Legislature in 2014 and 2018.

Legislative career

He ran for the Kalean Legislative Assembly in 2022, winning a seat and being appointed as Co-Chair by majority vote of the legislature.

On 18 June, 2023, Keone was asked to resign as Co-Chair amidst a political scandal.

Political positions

Keone is known for his progressive political positions. He is a strong advocate for universal healthcare, increased funding for education, and workers' rights. He has also been a vocal supporter of marriage equality and other LGBTQ+ rights.

Keone is married and has one child. He is also a dedicated community volunteer and has been involved in a number of local organizations and charities.
