Kole Luca
Scott West Luca, (born January 30, 1984), also known by his stage name Kole Luca, is a Zamastanian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, and fashion designer. Born in Tofino, he began pursuing a music career as a teenager and gained prominence for his self-produced album West Night. This project helped garner attention from the record label Trap Endeavor, which allowed him to record his first full-length project Paradillum and subsequently achieve a large fan base. Luca has been recognized as an influence on contemporary hip hop and alternative acts. His lyrics are often autobiographical, describing childhood experiences of depression, loneliness and alienation; his struggle with drugs into adulthood and themes of spirituality, heartbreak, dissipation and celebration. The majority of his impact stems from his ability to display vulnerability and address mental health. He is noted for his experimental nature, combining psychedelia, R&B, electronica, synthpop, dance, house, punk and indie rock in his music.
Outside of recording, Luca ventured into acting with roles on multiple television shows including as the host of a talk show which began in 2016. He has also appeared in several films, including having won Best Supporting Actor at the 92nd Tofino Film Festival for his role in Sparked Link (2018).
