The Aprosian Emperor (日니兒, Son of the Sun) was considered to be the embodiment of the Spirit of the Son of the Sun (大人 日니兒, Great Son of the Sun) and a religious leader of the Aprosians. Since the Spirit of the Son of the Sun was considered to transfer from the father to his children, all of the Kunihárs came from a single royal family, which was considered holy by the regular people of Aprosia. As such, the Emperor's sayings were considered holy and coming directly from the Spirit, with the Spirit following the wishes of the Sun.

Etymology and Imperial Style
The name Kunihár comes from the words 'Kú' (日), meaning the sun and from 'hár' (兒), meaning descendant or child. The original Múzan pronounciation of the world was Kúnkhár and the origins of the word have remained nearly identical due to the importance of the Emperor in the religious lives of Aprosians.
The later Aprosian monarchs claim to continue the Imperial family in sovereignity and most claimed an additional title, 大人 從 (Great Follower), to represent this.
