Languages of Skaolitunia
Although Skaolitunia has no official language, English and Pandish are the de facto national language. Skaolitunian English is a major variety of the language with a distinctive accent and lexicon, and differs slightly from other varieties of English in grammar and spelling. General Australian serves as the standard dialect, though there are many different dialects of English. Skaolitunian Pandish also differs from Pandish
Over 250 Maori and Kanak languages are thought to have existed at the time of first European contact, of which fewer than fifty are still in daily use by all age groups. About 110 others are spoken exclusively by older people.
Skoalitunia's linguistic diversity extends beyond the two official languages. "In Skaolitunia, 14.7 million people (14.2% of the population) reported speaking a language other than English or Pandish most often at home and 5.9 million people (5.8%) reported speaking such a language on a regular basis as a second language (in addition to their main home language, English or French). In all, 20.0% of Skaolitunia's population reported speaking a language other than English or Pandish at home. For roughly 6.4 million people, the other language was an immigrant language, spoken most often or on a regular basis at home, alone or together with English or Pandish whereas for more than 213,000 people, the other language was an Maori or Kanak language. Finally, the number of people reporting sign languages as the languages spoken at home was nearly 25,000 people (15,000 most often and 9,800 on a regular basis)."
Skaolitunia is also home to many indigenous languages. Taken together, these are spoken by less than one percent of the population.
