Las Islas Pacificas have had a tumultuous history. Since their conquest in 1725 by the First Confederation of Adrinian, the islands have frequently risen up in revolt against the other provinces. Typically, they were not even given proper representation as they were simply counted as a part of Puerto de Arcos. It was not until the 2003 unification that the province was separated from Puerto de Arcos and given proper autonomy.
The islands are fiercely libertarian, harboring much resentment for the rest of the nation and the federal government. They begrudgingly house the nation's space program at San Cristoból Space Port as well as a substantial military presence. The "Islands First" political party recently won over half of the provinces's seats in parliament, signaling a possible reignition of the seperatist movement, but so far no substantial progress has been made.
The islands provide a fair amount of tourism for the nation, but are not home to any substantial industries.
