Lebøvenland, officially the Free State of Lebøvenland, is a constituent state of Delkora. It is the smallest state by both area and population. The capital and largest city is Raikonir.

Geography

Lebøvenland is located in northern Delkora, encompassing the entire island of Lebøvia off the coast of the mainland. The interior of the state is mountainous and densely forested, and as a result most of the population is concentrated on the coasts.

Demographics and culture

As of the 2020 Federal Census, Lebøvenland is home to around 2.8 million people, making it the least populated state. Over 85% of the population identifies as Lebøvian, an ethnic group of mixed Norse and Scots origins that is indigenous to the state. Lebøvian is a co-official language in the state alongside Delkoran; virtually the entire population is fluent in both languages. Official documents are printed in both languages, and business in the state legislature is conducted in both as well.

Residents of the state were once commonly referred to as øboer ("islanders") by people from mainland Delkora, a term which is now generally considered offensive and no longer used.

Economy

Historically, Lebøvenland was very underdeveloped relative the rest of the Kingdom, although major strides were made at various points in the late 19th and early to mid 20th century, most notably during the New Kingdom. Still, the state has tended to lag behind other states on a number of economic indicators. Its share of national GDP amounts to 2.1%, and it has the lowest GDP per capita, making it the poorest Delkoran state. Services constitute the largest share of the economy. The state has a considerable manufacturing base, while agricultural output is negligible. It is a major tourism destination.

Government and politics

The 50 member Lebøvenland House of Representatives is the unicameral legislative body of the state. Bárður Ólavsson, a member of the Conservative Party, is the current first minister. The Constitutional Court of Lebøvenland is responsible for interpreting the state's constitution and ensuring that state law adheres to its provisions.

Lebøvenland's political culture has been heavily influenced by republicanism, distrust of the federal government, and at times separatism. It is the only state to have abolished its monarchy, having done so in a 1924 referendum.
