List of Presidents of Sarenium

The President of the United Republic of Sarenium is the ceremonious Saren Head of State, commander-in-chief of the Saren Armed Forces, and the Commandant of the Tiberian Life Guardians. The President also serves as patron of over 400 not for profit organizations, various arts and awards programs, and retains various reserve powers oftentimes exercised through the Grand Executor Council. The role was first created in the Constitution of the United Republic in 1606. Prior to the 1886 Presidential election, all Saren Presidents were elected for once-renewable seven-year terms. From the 1886 election on, each term lasted ten years with no option for renewal. The procedure for election has evolved over time to include more Sarens, in parallel with the growing democratization of legislative elections. Historically, Presidents have emerged from among leaders of the armed forces, senior politicians, notable and recognized scientific scholars, civic leaders, athletes or artists, and other nationally recognizable figures who have made significant contributions to Sarenium.
