As it turns out, the orphanage is actually a cult and was the reason Tavilanpa came to this world when the intended result was for another being of her race to bring about "heaven" instead. When this being, Yir'zendec, is finally brought to the world six years later, Tavilanpa is forced back through the portal. Angelique, now adopting the name, Vortex, is off to save the world from Yir'zendec.
