Pre-Erlenic (1641-1714)

In 1640, the Vilshus (legislative) ratified a constitutional reform which would dissolve itself to make way for a hereditary order of rulers; therefore, the members (or Wills), effectively elected landowning politicians, could spend more time on their manorial lands and less time travelling to Oppidum. The condition was that the inaugural monarch would be determined by absolute primogeniture of the most senior, long-serving Will of the day. Will of Iley, Baron Stephen Lewison had been serving since 1617, and was marginally the longest-serving Will and was therefore selected as the candidate as father for the first monarch. Rose Johanna, at the age of 19, became the Queen of Woodstead.

The third monarch and first King of Woodstead, Erlen John, knew that his preference for men and his probable impotency would not be helpful. He was given a blessed union ceremony with his life partner, Deyn Griffin, effectively the King Consort. Upon Deyn's death, and with a desire for expansion of Woodstead's power, he offered the Erlenic reforms which restructured titles into the Erlenic Empire before his abdication to his cousin, Leo Matthew, who became Emperor.

Erlenic Colonial (1714-1869)

Erlen was granted a blessed union with his life partner, Deyn Griffin. Titled as Grand Duke of Anne Stuart and Ambassador to Colonies, born in to the short-lived English Anne Stuart Colony. Deyn was not entitled to adopt status of King Consort due to the same-sex relationship, but was effectively recognised as such outside of the law. When Deyn died, Anne Stuart became the Duchy of Port Europe. In 1713, the Erlenic Charter formed the new Kingdoms of Beinai, Libetta, and Osterra alongside Woodstead under the Empire of Erlenica. Whilst the title of King or Queen of Woodstead did not lose jurisdiction other than the new co-dependent Kingdom of Libetta, the throne became subordinate to the Emperor, but as the highest of all four Kingdoms.
