The Republic of Vilcasuamanas has been led by different heads of state in its history, varying in both title and legitimacy. Prior to the Second Vilcasuamanian Civil War, the President of Vilcasuamanas was the head of state. The presidency ceased to exist in 1863, and its majority of its powers were rolled into the already-existing office of Chancellor of Vilcasuamanas, which has occupied the position of head of state since.
