Wikitoria Kaiwaiata Noa Kahimeka established the Mihi monarchy following the conquest of Karawaha in the late 1730s becoming the first Rangatira Nui (Great Chieftain) and naming himself Kahimeka I. Although the official title of the sovereign of Mihi Mai Ra was Rangatira Nui, all members of his dynasty would also adopt the name of his Hapu, Kahimeka, upon ascension to the throne. The Kahimeka Dynasty lasted from 1732 to November 1910 when it was replaced by the House of Vernon-Dryden following the annexation of Mihi Mai Ra by the Kingdom of Estmere. Vernon-Dryden rule was ended in 1932 by the overthrow of the Estmerish monarchy, however, Mihi Mai Ra remained a monarchy without a monarch until 1942 wherein Mihi Mai Ra officially abolished the monarchy in the Wahakahokia.
