The Lutheran Church of Vyvland (Vyvlander: Luferez Jerj Vyvluds, pronounced /luːðəɾeʒ ʝeɾi vʏvlədz/) is a Protestant Christian church originating from Vyvland, where it remains the largest religious denomination. It split from the Lutheran Catholic Church in a schism over the role of the church in the state in the mid-fourteenth century, instigated by then-King Eylav fi Paavyl. Until 1983, the church was the official state church of North Vyvland, and of the Kingdom of Vyvland before that. However, the church never played a particularly significant role in the government of Vyvland. The church uses blood-red dominantly, representing the death and resurrection of Jesus, the story and idea of which is fundamental to the church's beliefs. The church counts among its members over one-fifth of the population of Vyvland, totalling around 6 million Vyvlanders, while also holding approximately half a million members overseas.

Leadership

The church is headed by a synod of ten senior bishops who meet in Mafiy Abbey. The synod comprises of each Archbishop, in addition to the bishops of Rycdayn, Sohsrig, Lorence and Strossen. One bishop is elected to be the synod's 'herald' each year, which essentially means that he or she chairs meetings and acts as the Church's official representative and spokesperson.

Divisions

The Lutheran Church of Vyvland is divided into six provinces, each headed by an Archbishop. The dioceses vary in population from Vlud (2.3 million inhabitants) to Prensted and Deymym (150,000 each).
