M2120A3 Main Battle Tank

Jump to navigation Jump to search

The M2120A3 Heavy Main Battle Tank is the latest and most advanced iteration in the M2120 series, representing the apex of Scion Defence's tank development. Following the M2120A1 and M2120A2, the A3 incorporates significant upgrades and improvements based on extensive combat experience and technological advancements. It is the most advanced tank in the Confederate Military Arsenal.

Description

The M2120A3 is equipped with the TG-9 140mm smoothbore cannon, mounted on an unmanned turret. This main armament features an autoloader and caseless rounds, which contribute to its high rate of fire and accuracy. The autoloader system uses a rotating rack to feed ammunition into the chamber, and the gunner selects rounds using a touch screen, facilitating efficient loading and targeting.

For secondary armament, the A3 includes a co-axial .50 caliber machine gun and two Scion PDWS (Point Defence Weapon Systems). Each PDWS unit is fitted with a .50 caliber stacked projectile machine gun and six IAD-6 (Infantry Air Defence) missiles, enhancing its defensive capabilities.

The tank’s armor consists of a titanium hull reinforced with DU and tungsten mesh and CO2 honeycomb cells. This multi-layered armor system is designed to absorb and dissipate impacts. Additionally, the A3 can be equipped with the Gladiator defense system, which offers hard kill, electronic jamming, and visual jamming capabilities, along with ERA and NERA bricks for added protection. The RIOT non-lethal defense system is also available for enhanced security.

The A3 is powered by the SGT-4 gas turbine engine, which produces 1600hp, an improvement over the previous SGT-2 engine. It features a TSS hydro pneumatic-torsion bar hybrid suspension system, allowing it to achieve speeds of 100 km/h on road and 75 km/h off road. The operational range is 700 km, extendable to 900 km with external fuel tanks.

With full C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence) capabilities, the A3 operates using the SMBN (Sciox Military Battle Network), providing global connectivity and real-time control of UCAVs or UGVs. The on-board LCC-20 computer system integrates multiple touch screens to streamline crew operations and improve efficiency.
