Magnezit-1 (Russian: Магнезит-1, Magnesite 1), sometimes just referred to as Magnezit, was the first artificial Earth satellite. It was launched into an elliptical low Earth orbit by the Imperium Aeternum through its space program Aetcosmos on 3 January 1957. It communicated with Aeternum ground stations for 21 days before its batteries became depleted.
