Malgravean Automotive Industries is an automotive manufacturing company located in the United Kingdom of Malgrave. It was established shortly after the foundation of the country to provide vehicles for state-enterprises, however, it has since expanded to providing vehicles for Regional Social Solidarity Councils and the overseas export market.

History

Malgravean Automotive Industries was founded shortly after the foundation of the country in 1910. Initially, the company was purely focused on providing vehicles for state-run companies, with it's primary concern being MalTra and the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation for which it produces a variety of buses and trucks. MAI also worked with MalDef to supply vehicles for the Malgravean Armed Forces, however, due to the limited resources present in Malgrave at the time due to the Imerian blockade it did not engage in the serial production of vehicles for personal use.

Shortly after the production of the country following the Great Exodus MAI struggled to find the resources to reestablish its industrial presence in the new homeland, however, the start of the Malgravean Civil War and the expansion of MalTra operations resulted in MAI being afforded greater resources.

MAI continued pre-war operations constructing buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles for MalTra, MRHC and the Armed Forces, however, it also started to expand into personal vehicles and in 1950 it started the production of the MAI Metro, a small car designed for urban use and the MAI Liberty designed for use in rural areas of the country.

Following the success of both models MAI started to receive increased support from the government and Pakosc was transformed into a major industrial hub for the city, with many resources being diverted to modernise existing factories in the region. Pakosc transformation into a major industrial hub meant that many workers from MAI were involved in the Battle of Pakosc, an event which worked to increase the favorability of the company and led many Regional Social Solidarity Councils to start purchasing personal cars for hire as a way of showing thanks to the company.

For many decades, majority of MAI vehicles were powered with electric motors that had been developed in a collaborative effort between MAI, MalEn and MalTec under the oversight of Nikola Tesla to deal with a major oil shortage. In 1950 MAI started to develop alternate methods of fuel and in the 60s initiated the first trials of a vehicle powered by a hydrogen fuel-cell, however, in spite of the promise offered by the technology such a project was deemed unrealistic and further work was continued on the project to try and present a feasible alternative to existing platforms.

In 1987 a breakthrough was made, as a hydrogen paste was developed during a collaborative project between MAI and MalEn. Such a paste could be moulded into cartridges and simply mixed with water to produce the desired power which was deemed far more efficient compared to previous models that required high pressure tanks.

Expansion

In 2000 MAI launched a product designed predominantly for the export market. The MAI Aurora was designed to be comfortable on long-range cruises on high speed road networks while retaining performance in urban environments, such a class has been dubbed as an autoway cruiser by MAI. In 2015 the Aurora was replaced with the Galaxy, an improved model which offered greater MalTec integration.

MAI has also expanded overseas constructing factories to provide retro vehicles to markets in the Dornalian Republic. In 2014 it was reported that MAI was looking into working with a local company in the Republic of Breheim to open up a factory to produce vehicles in that country.
