Marcellus Antonius Bracchus was a patrician, governor, and military commander in the Empire of Exponent, known for his leadership during the Austral War. Bracchus was the final governor of Valle Crucis, and retired to a career in the Imperial court in Paradise City after the loss of the island to Cassonnais and Cadenzan forces.

Early Life

Marcellus was born on April 16, 1768, into the Bracchus family, which had been part of the Imperial household in Exponent for centuries. He was raised on the Bracchus estate outside of Iandarium, modern-day Jandara. His grandfather, Claudius Octavius Bracchus, was a commander of infantry in the Aquitaynian War of Independence, and his father, Antonius Claudius Bracchus, was an influential member of the Exponential-Polarussian upper class.

Valle Crucis

Marcellus was selected by the Emperor Maximinius V to serve as governor of Valle Crucis in 1798.

On July 23, 1812, a Cassonnais fleet under Admiral David Quebodeaux arrived off the coast of Valle Crucis and demanded access to all Beriquois and Beriquois-bound vessels in the Port. Bracchus quickly refused, leading to the First Battle of Valle Crucis and the outbreak of the Austral War.
