Margaret (Margaret Augusta Wilhelmina Elizabeth; born 22 March 1937) is a member of the British royal family. She was Queen of the United Kingdom from 11 February 1958 until 4 March 1986 as the wife of King William V.
Born into the former German imperial family and a great-granddaughter of Wilhelm II, Margaret came to prominence in 1957 when she married William, the Prince of Wales, eldest son of King William IV and Queen Thyra. After only a few months as Princess of Wales, Margaret became Queen consort when her father-in-law died and her husband ascended the throne as King William V.
Margaret and William had three daughters: Charlotte, Anne, and Catherine.
