Marina of Dakmoor (Marina Azelia Telara Amalur; 20 May 1757 – 12 September 1811) was a Ghantish noblewoman from Dakmoor, and Duchess of Adrianople by virtue of her marriage to Jason Claudius, 31st Duke of Adrianople. After her husband's untimely death, Marina became the first and only woman to serve as Lord Palatine of the Occidens, during the youth of her eldest son, Leo, serving from 1782 until 1794. Marina came to Latium after becoming disillusioned with her life in Ghant and emigrated after turning the age of 16, arriving months later in the port city of Fairfax, in what is now the State of Dakmar.
Biography
Early Life
Princess Marina of Dakmoor was born on 20 May 1757, in Dakar. She was the firstborn child of Princess Marek of Dakmoor, and his wife, Azelia of Noduar. She was born during the reign of her grandfather, King Deunoro of Dakmoor, and spent her earliest years at his court.
As a little girl, she was said to be very intelligent, and also willful. From her mother’s northern background, Marina inherited a rebellious, headstrong streak, and she became a larger than life presence at Dakauregia.
Azelia suffered from many miscarriages and stillbirths following Marina’s birth, and it was anticipated that Marina would one day become Queen of Dakmoor, on account of being the King’s only child. This was later confirmed in 1767, when King Deunoro died. When Marek was crowned King of Dakmoor that year, he bestowed upon Marina the title of Crown Princess.
On account of this, her father, who already loved his daughter greatly, kept her close to him as his heir presumptive. She grew up expecting to become the ruling Queen of Dakmoor. Marek treated her as his heir, keeping her by his side in court and at council meetings. Many of the nobles of Dakmoor took note, so the young princess was surrounded by flatterers and favor-seekers all throughout her childhood.
Her mother’s failed pregnancies did little to disturb Marina's expectations, but when Azelia finally gave birth to a healthy boy, Deboru, in 1770, Marina was finally displaced from her status as her father’s successor.
Despite the birth of Deboru, Marek still kept his daughter close to him, as she was well learned and well versed in politics and ruling. She grew into a beautiful young woman, tall and slender, with a fair unblemished complexion, brown hair and soft, gentle blue eyes. Many suitors approached her father for her hand, among them Kings and their heirs. However, Marina refused to entertain their advances.
Eventually, Marina grew dissatisfied with her lot in Ghant, and decided to pursue a life of adventure elsewhere. Her mother and father, initially opposed to such a notion, eventually relented, and told their daughter that they would always love her, and that she would always have a place in their hearts.
She would also be given an Arragard steel blade, Sorgindutako, by the Forgemasters of Arragard, as it was said that she was favored by the Gods, and great destiny awaited her.
Entering Latium
She then departed Ghant for the last time, and traveled the seas. Eventually, she found herself in Adrianople, Latium, where she married the future Jason Claudius, 31st Duke of Adrianople.
Marriage & Family
Marina married Jason Claudius, 31st Duke of Adrianople in 1777, at Basilica of the Blessed Virgin, in Adrianople. Over the course of her marriage to Claudius, they had four children: Paulina, Leo, Andreas, and Liliana.
Lord Palatine
Marina became Lord Palatine of the Occidens after the unexpected death of her husband, serving in lieu of her eldest son and the 32nd Duke until he reached the age of 17. The minority of her son, Leo, resulted in Marina becoming the first woman to serve as Lord Palatine, and the only non-Claudii to hold the title since the 15th century. Under her watch, she effectively governed Latium's westernmost counties and holdings. To this day she is attributed for her just rule and helping to solidify the Claudii position as one of Latium's most prestigious and important houses.

Legacy
She was later canonized in 1957, 200 years after her birth, and made a patron saint of Adrianople.
