Mart Barkalarsk (Barkalari: Ⰿⱘⱅ Ⰱⱘⰽⰰⰾⱘⱝ), alternatively known as "Great Barkalarsk or "Grand Barkalarsk, is a massive and expansive nation covering three of the ten subcontinents of Zeela, specifically Eastern Vagara, all of Nemaloshya, and part of Karakatakaran. The nation, an absolute monarchy ruled by the Juup, roughly equivalent to that of a Khan or Emperor, is the largest nation in the world. It is a massive nation, composed of roughly 110 semi-nomadic Voikar, or hosts. Originating from a union between the Two Lakes City States and the large amount of Steppe and Mountain Raiders they neighbored, Mart Barkalarsk evolved over the millennia to be a massively autocratic and authoritarian regime, modelled after the idea that "a tribe is both a band of families and a band of soldiers" that spans over most of the planet. It spans X million square kilometers and is home to over 200 million people, sparsely spread out amongst the countryside, steppes, mountains, deserts, and forests, or densely packed within cities or military Voikar camps. It covers numerous mountain ranges, the Grass Ocean, deserts, and millions of square kilometers of subarctic and arctic tundra and taiga. The capitol, Fataghon, sits directly between the Two Lakes and is directly north of the Akkas Mountain Range. The largest city of Narkau lies more towards the northwest, and is the seat of most civilian matters and affairs.
Originating from the unification of the city states with Steppe Tribes after the Tulganic Prophecies and the Two Lakes War, Mart Barkalarsk experienced periods of rapid and sudden expansion across Zeela, only to be met with civil wars and fracturing substates until stability gradually increased over time. With the advance of technology in the West, Barkalarsk was forced to rapidly adapt these customs while attempting to maintain it's more traditional way of life. With it's own philosophical evolution and technological revolutions as well, Mart Barkalarsk has seen multiple Empires and dynasties rise and fall within its borders. Within the past few centuries, Barkalarsk has entered what seems to be a large period of stability with the discovery of what seems to be the final two continents on the planet, Q'Onya and Zulost, mainly due to a period of political isolationism and the decision by multiple Juups to not pursue an aggressively colonialist policy.
Even after industrialization, a large amount of the populace of Great Barkalarsk is nomadic or semi-nomadic, generally living within Voikar military bands or hosts that roam the landscape from end to end and occasionally offering their services to other countries to act as mercenaries or raiders. Other Voikar have other specializations, such as roadbuilding, engineering, or developing medicine. The contrast and alliance between nomadic culture and that of the city-state from millennia ago forms a bulwark of modern Barkalari culture, and many people often swap between them at different points in their lives. It is estimated that even with the massive urban expansion of past centuries, that anywhere from 40% to 60% of the nation is nomadic or semi-nomadic.
The majority of the populace follows an incredibly militarized form of Tulganism, and military culture pervades everyday life. Cities, villages, and tribes all have defense militias and practically everything is under the subset or supervision of a Voikar or local lord, tasked with maintaining defense and basic utilities of the region along with a certain amount of luxury goods. Property, compared to other nations, is a unique aspect of Barkalari culture, with many things being culturally considered "military property," and thus open by default to members of many hosts or part of the standing army. When one host leaves, another one generally takes it's place within 1-2 months. Aggressively assimilating conquered nations into it's mainstream culture, Mart Barkalarsk has a relatively unified culture and language, with only regional variation.
Today, Mart Barkalarsk is considered to be one of the great powers of the world, culturally and militarily, though not necessarily economically.
Etymology
Mart Barkalarsk comes from the Barkalari term Mart, meaning "Powerful, Strong, Grand." This is not to be confused with the Barkalari term Grand, which means "moving counter-clockwise" (g' "opposite," and -rand, or "clockwise, circular"). The terminology "Grand Barkalarsk" comes from an English approximation of it.
"Barkalarsk" comes from the word "Bar," one of the largest cities of the Two Lakes culture, and "-kalarsk," an ancient nomadic term meaning "the lands of." While Bar is still inhabited today, and is one of the largest cities in Mart Barkalarsk, it is no longer the capitol of the nation.
History
Pre-Prehistory
Mart Barkalar was inhabited by numerous creatures before it was inhabited by humans, including the Q'aq'a. According to many ancient legends from across Zeela, humans eventually either killed or bred out the Q'aq'a.
Prehistory
Using the "Created" calendar, the first human settlement is argued to be around three to five thousand years ago.
First Nomadic Tribes and City States
Due to the large area that Mart Barkalarsk covers, it can be difficult to determine when and where exactly the "first civilized peoples" are exactly located, but they're generally considered to have originated in a few different areas. The Two Lakes City States, originating from around the Farrava and Jarkano Lakes, using it for resources and trading with one another for other resources. Around this same time, similar cultures developed around the Ice Lakes up north, and two other coastal cultures developed on the Darranu Coast and the Rosity Sea. Nomadic cultures developed in two areas, one near the Two Lakes culture and another one on the Grass Ocean.

While there are occasional regional variations due to differences in environment, the overall structure and social influences from the religion remain the same.
