The Most Serene Republic of Martellago, commonly called Martellago (Mart-eh-yah-go) or the Most Serene Republic (MSRM) is a federal republic with elective monarchistic features in Southern Europe. The country has a population of more than 32 million, covers a total land area of 127,724 sq mi (330,803 km²), and shares land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, and the enclaved microstates of Vatican City and San Marino. Martellago’s capital and largest city is Anterivo; other major urban areas include LIST A COUPLE CITIES HERE.
The Most Serene Republic has a unique system of government in that it follows a mixed model. A monarch (the Doge) is elected by the Arengio, and serves for life, though his powers are severely limited. The head of state and government is the Federal Council, a four member body elected for a four year term by the Collegio. Being a federal state since DATE, Martellago is divided into 4 communes, each retaining a significant amount of power and independence.
