Mehmet Pathan (police officer)

Mehmet Pathan is a Sharifistani police officer who leads a team of analysts in the Intelligence Directorate (Sharifistan). He is known for exposing bribery and later child exploitation in the Madinat Al-Islam Vice Squad.

Early life and education

Born in 1990, the son of a bank security guard and his wife, Mehmet Pathan achieved good grades in school and studied aikido as well as being active in the school safety patrol. He decided he wanted to be a police officer when he was 14. Later he studied criminology at Madinat Al-Islam University receiving a 2:1 degree.

military service

He trained to be an Army officer for a year and then served for a year and six months as an officer in the Royal Pashtunistan City Infantry. He was a veteran of the Afghanistan War.

Police career

At the age of 24 he joined the Madinat Al-Islam Police. 2 years later he passed the exam for detectives and joined the Vice Squad after watching Taxi Driver and then doing academic research that gave real life examples of similar cases to the child exploitation case in the film. He first raised issues of corruption by writing to the press about bribes paid to police by gambling den operators including members of the Rogues' Guild. Later he uncovered the 2014-2017 vice squad child exploitation scandal. He became a Detective Chief Inspector in Anti-Corruption as a result of this and received the Nişan De Onur.

Personal life

He has a wife (Maryam Pathan) and 2 children (Khalid Pathan and Frank Serpico Pathan, the later named after famous police whistleblower Frank Serpico)
