Messina Viari (born 24 September 1997) is a Cacertian grandmaster, commentator, and livestreamer who is the current Cacertian Chess Champion. She first reached the top of the FSC's rankings in 2017 and currently maintains the highest classical rating of 2770 in the nation's history. Defined by her universal style, Messina utilizes a variety of openings and strategies that make it difficult for opponents to prepare and also reduces the effect of computer analysis.
She won her first national championship in 2018 and has managed to defend her title in both 2019 and 2020. In 2020, she participated in and won Syara's Commonality International Invitational and defeated Ruvelkan national champion Sára Ispiryan at the Debrecen International League. Later the same year, Messina became Cacerta's National Rapid Chess Champion and National Blitz Chess Champion.
In Cacerta, Messina has become a chess icon both for her skill as well as her usage of modern social media platforms to promote the sport.
