Michaelis Aristides is the eighth and current President of the Hellenic Republic. Previously, he worked in the private consulting sector during the administration of socialist President George Papandreou and before that served as Foreign Minister in the second government of Tassos Kyprianou. This was after a career working for the Foreign Ministry, and a seven-year stint representing the Athens suburb of Archarnes in the Gerousia, where he served as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee for one year.
