The Mikelis Y180 is a Romaian modular assault rifle manufactured by Mikelis. Developed for the Romaian Armed Forces as part of the '"Hoplite XXI" program, the Y180 was launched in 2009 as a commercial weapon system independent from the Hoplite XXI ensemble, complete with a companion single-shot 40×46mm NATO low-velocity grenade launcher, called the Y340, which can be mounted underneath the rifle or used with an ad hoc stock system as a stand-alone weapon.

In late 2015, Mikelis introduced the Mikelis Y200 chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge.

Design

Short-stroke gas piston

Mikelis Y180 features a short-stroke gas piston driven system similar to the Heckler & Koch G36 and HK416, with a gas block regulator adjustment located above the barrel. It features an ambidextrous safeties, magazine release (right side, left side, and "AK" style), bolt release and charging handle, as well as the ability to change which side spent casings are ejected, a quick-change barrel which can be removed and replaced in seconds without any tools, Picatinny rails, and a foldable telescopic stock.

Mikelis Y180 features a STANAG 4694 NATO Accessory Rail at 12 o'clock that is backwards-compatible with the STANAG 2324/MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail. At 6 o'clock it features the STANAG 2324/MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail.
