The MDR was founded as a paramilitary organisation in Itsch in 1880 dedicated to Itsch republicanism the belief that Itsch should be an independent republic from the United Empire. From 1892 to 1908 the M'DR was a paramilitary organisation and a political party. A year after Itsch became independent republic the M'DR was no longer a paramilitary organisation and was a 'normal' political party.

Ideology

The M'DR is a centrist political party that favors a mixed economy and a foreign policy of strictly non-interventionism. On social issues the party is divided between socially progressives and socially conservatives. The M'DR supports the parliamentary Cordon sanitaire around the unionist party Unity.

• Progresemuloj is the centrist-progressive faction in the MDR.
• Moderuloj is the centrist-conservative faction in the MDR.
• Neŭtraloj is the isolationist-faction in the MDR. It is the most right-wing faction of the MDR. The faction is notorious for its Anglophobia and opposition to Unionist political parties in Itsch.
