The Misch Reliant Tactical Vehicle (RTV) is a 6×6 military heavy truck in use by the Belfrasian Armed Forces. Designed in the late 1990s, the RTV has been in service across all branches of the Belfrasian Military since. Through the course of it's life, it has evolved into it's own family of cargo trucks, personnel movers, mobile facilities, prime movers, recovery vehicles, and even artillery vehicles.

History

Specifications

Most models of the RTV share a common chassis, cab, and hood system. The basic truck is a 6×6 (three axles, six wheels, all powered) medium truck. Early versions of the RTV were initially designed as a universal chassis by Misch Automotive, but the idea was quickly abandoned as the larger truck bodies were required for more purposes. Most modern trucks in the RTV family are automatic, with a wide variety of configurations, heights, lengths, and wheel basis.

The extended wheel base cargo version can, by default, carry a standard TEU-sized shipping container. This allows army units to utilize commonly used commercial containers, a massive cost-cutting measure that also improves use.

Tires

All vehicles in the RTV family are equipped with both a Central Tire Inflation System (CITS) and a suspension/torque adjustment system (STAS). This allows operators to adjust tire inflation pressures to best suit vehicle payload and terrain type whilst also allowing the operator to better navigate rough terrain through adjustment of the suspension and torque system. The CITS operates through a concealed port in the central axle and is protected from damage should the tire be punctured. The RTV is capable of running on flat tires and is typically equipped with run-flat capable tires that would be able to operate at 50 mph (80 kmh) for roughly 100 miles prior to irreparable damage. The CITS, subsequently, is positioned and manufactured so that repairing or replacing the end section at each tire is a modular and easy process, with roughly 50 spares typically carried at the CITS' main body in a storage compartment.

Safety and Survivability

After 2008, all RTV vehicles were refitted to contain the ability to be fitted with up-armour kits, such as armour plating, reactive armour, bar cages and weapon mounts. In decent conditions and out of battle, this would allow a motor platoon to uparmour their RTV vehicles and equip them with Pintle-mounted weapons at around 30 minutes per vehicle. This theoretical time window calculates the fact that two people would be working on each vehicle and utilizes armour plating add-ons rather than the far heavier and more delicate reactive armour. The armour plating in this scenario would also only cover the cab. The finished effect would be a RTV capable of moving through a combat zone safe from enemy fire with the ability to return it effectively. At an hour window, the RTV would be able to boast armoured sides to protect it's cargo with bar cage's fitted above the armour. More modern RTVs have been seen utilizing remote weapon systems, with a dedicated terminal set up in the passenger seat.

Features

Replacement

The Cossack, designed and produced by Belfrasian Military Systems, is slated to replace the Misch Reliant at the end of 2015 after being selected as it's replacement in June 2014.
