Variants

ASR

The Mk 212 ASR is the base configuration of the weapon, a full length bullpup assault rifle, first introduced into service in 2950.

  • Mk 212 ASR-V1: an improved variant introduced into service in 2965, featuring enhanced ergonomics and a holographic projection optic
  • Mk 212 ASR-V2: features an improved electronics package with additional navigation, atmospheric condition and targeting systems. Introduced in 2970.
  • Mk 212 ASR-G1: specialised variant based off the V2, designed for grenadier troops. Integral underbarrel grenade launcher replaces the stock handguard and uprated electronics package with targeting for the launcher. Introduced in 2971 and saw service for over 100 years.
  • Mk 212 ASR-V3: modernisation of the rifle introduced in 3100. Lightweight ruggedised furniture reduced bulk and weight with upgraded power delivery system and electromagnetic coil for improved performance.
  • Mk 212 ASR-V4: introduced in 3295 and upgraded the coil to a duplex system, greatly increasing muzzle velocity and penetration. Overhauled electronics package featuring datalink and networking built into the rifle. Definitive version in service during the Great Intergalactic War.

ASWS

The Mk 212-1 Automatic Squad Weapon System was developed to provide a common weapon system for machine gunners attached to squads. It features a lengthened 600 mm barrel, 100 round drum magazine, integrated bipod and improved recoil stabilisation system. First entered service in 2955.

  • Mk 212-1 ASWS-V1: improved magazine feed system that lessened weight and improved reliability. A redesigned integrated carrying handle was added, replacing the flimsy hook system. Introduced in 3000.
