Mongolian Soviet Socialist Republic

The Mongolian Soviet Socialist Republic (Mongolian: Монгол Зөвлөлт Социалист Бүгд Найрамдах Улс Mongol Zövlölt Sotsialist Bügd Nairamdakh Uls MZSBNU), and commonly referred to as the Mongolian SSR, or Soviet Mongolia, was one of the constituent republics of the Soviet Union from 1948 to 1991 in northern East Asia. It was created on 5 December 1936 when it annexed the Mongolian Khanate, a Japanese client state.
