On 15 June 2023, Otto Jackson III, a BlakeIsHereian Liberal Democratic Party politician and Member of Parliament (MP), died after being shot multiple times in New Gower. The following day, 28-year-old Duncan Cruickshank was found guilty of his murder and other offences connected to the killing in an act of terrorism. The judge concluded that Cruickshank wanted to promote Stalinism.
Attack
Otto Jackson III was elected into the BlakeIsHereian National Assembly in the 2018 federal election. He was the eldest son of the former Senator and MP Otto Jackson Jr., the brother-in-law of Emrys Howell, who served as the first prime minister of BlakeIsHere after the restoration of democracy, from 1973 until 1980.
Perpetrator
The perpetrator of the attack was Duncan Cruickshank, a 28-year-old salesman. Cruickshank had mental health problems, though he was declared sane in the moment of the crime.
Cruickshank had links to the Faction of the Left, a Stalinist organized crime organization and political party which was banned and designated a terrorist organization in 2007.
