The Myrmidon is a Syaran main battle tank that entered service in 1998. The tank is a conglomeration of the older Manticore and Minotaur models, combing features from both designs. It was Syara's first tank produced after the Refusal War and features a 125mm main cannon, advanced composite armor, explosive reactive armor enhancements, active protection systems, electronic countermeasures, and an advanced fire control system and optical enhanement suite. The Myrmidon was slated to become Syara's main battle tank in the early 2000s and saw extensive service during the Imerti Conflict and the Zemplen War, where the Syaran National Army considered it to be the best tank fielded during the fighting. Although it was announced that the Myrmidon would steadily be replaced by the Hetairos tank starting in 2015, the Myrmidon remains in active service and is estimated to remain there until the 2030s. A number of variants of the Myrmidon have emerged in the post-Zemplen War era to keep the platform up-to-date and viable on the modern battlefield.
