Granzery, officially the National Granzerian Republic (Granzerian: Nemzeti Grozyar Köztársaság), is a unicameral one-party republic in Regnum. It is ruled by the Vezér or leader of Granzery, a position for which elections are not held and office holders can only be removed by the Vezekabinet or their death. When a Vezér leaves office a new Vezér is appointed by the Vezekabinet and the New Renaissance Party. Granzery is bordered by Eisenreich to the west and Urshchenya to the east.

The Granzerian government has at times been accused of various human rights abuses in the past, claims that the Granzerian government denies. Since 2016 and the failed "Winter Revolution" the government has been fighting a low level insurgency in the east of the country against anti government, leftist and antifascist militants.

Etymology

The name Granzery originates from the Ermanic word Grenze, originally used to describe Grozyar tribes as "those beyond the borders". The term Grozyarország is used natively, although it is sometimes shortened to Grozyar.

History

Geography

The vast majority of Granzery's citizens live within the Győr-Ibrany flatlands, Granzery outside of the central plains is dominated by the Győrpát mountains and thick forests.

Politics

The Granzerian Kingdom is a one-party unitary bicameral state, following an internal coup on the 6th of June 1991 which resulted due to the assassination of then President Istvan IV and subsequent military takeover, the current constitution is undergoing revision to reflect the change of the political climate. The federal government is governed with the elected Senate as the legislative branch, and the unelected Nemzeti Vezető Kabinet/National Executive Cabinet (known as the Vezekabinet) as the executive branch. The Vezér, or leader, is selected by the Vezekabinet and Senate jointly, and is currently Karoly Taksony.

The Federal Government is comprised of three branches:

  • Legislative - The unicameral parliament, comprised of the 200-member Senate, adopts federal law, declares war and approves treaties. Members of the Senate are elected by popular vote, but candidates can only be a member of the Grozyar Nationalists, Royal Clique, New Renaissance Party or Right Sector Party.
  • Executive- The Executive Cabinet of the New Renaissance Party, the Vezekabinet has no defined number of members, but currently has 109 members appointed from the New Renaissance party. The Vezekabinet administers and enforces federal laws and policies and has the power of impeachment of the Vezér. The Vezekabinet can also veto legislative bills before they become law. In times of national crisis the Vezekabinet has the authority to disband the Senate and will in those cases become the legislative branch. Members of the Vezekabinet are appointed by the Party Secretary of the New Renaissance Party.
  • Judiciary - The National Court, Supreme Court and lower federal courts (Provisional and State Courts), whose judges are appointed by the Vezekabinet on the recommendation of the President, interpret laws and can overturn laws they deem unconstitutional.

Enforcement and administering of Federal law, and adoption of local law, and public works, are all handled by the County Governments of each of Granzery's 21 counties. These county governments are comprised of elected officials who are elected every 4 years by popular vote.

The Leader (Vezér) is elected by the Vezekabinet upon the reisgnation, death or dismissal of his predecessor, serving as the head of state and commander-in-chief of the Russian Armed forces. The Vezér is traditionally the leader of the New Renaissance party but theoretically the Vezekabinet can appoint anybody to the position.

The Prime Minister (miniszterelnök) is elected by the National Senate, serving as the head of government and exercising executive power. The Prime Minister selects Cabinet ministers (separate from Vezekabinet ministers) and has the exclusive right to dismiss them, although cabinet nominees must appear before consultative open hearings before one or more parliamentary committees, survive a vote in the National Senate, and be formally approved by the Vezér. The cabinet reports to parliament.
