Flag

The flag of Amrelia, commonly called the Sun and Stripes or Stripes of Liberty, dates back to the earliest days of the Amrelian Revolution in 1790. This was just one of the flags flown by the revolutionaries; after the proclamation of a federal state, the Founders commissioned several artists to create a new flag for the new nation, but ultimately the Sun and Stripes prevailed. It features seven horizontal stripes representing the seven original Amrelian states. In the canton lies a sun, known as the "Sun of Summer," representing the fact that the Revolution began in the summer months of 1780; the sun also has fourteen rays representing the fourteen states of the Union. Finally, in the center of the sun lies the Amrelian Phoenix, the mythological official bird of Amrelia.

The flag possesses great importance in Amrelian society. It is almost always flown at sporting events, outside of schools and federal buildings, and is even commonly seen outside restaurants and people's homes. It is not uncommon for protestors across Amrelia to burn the flag at times. During the National Day celebrations, everyone is encouraged to fly the Sun and Stripes.

Coat of Arms

The Coat of Arms of Amrelia also has its roots in the Amrelian Revolution. The Second Republic had just been overthrown and a federal state was announced with a Union of 14 states. The Coat of Arms features the national motto, "CONCORDIA NATIONE LIBERTATIS" in Latin which means "Unity, Nation, Liberty." On the left side stands Lady Amrelia, also known as Eliana, the national personification, with a Phrygian cap; on the right is a variation of Lady Justice. The Eye of Providence is present at the top. In the center, there are 14 shields bound by a unifying chain with the state abbreviations, representing the unity of the several states; furthermore, there are several arms featuring emblems such as the Amrelian Star, a French fleur-de-lis, and Celtic harp signifying the nation's cultural diversity and history.

Cockade

The cockade of Amrelia is the national ornament of Amrelia, featuring a folding blue, red, and yellow (the national colors) ribbon. It was extensively worn on the chests by those showing support for the Revolution in the mid-to-late 1770s. This tricolor is used by the Amrelian Air Force and by the national sports teams.

Anthem

Eliana

Eliana, the Latin name for "Sun," embodies the Federative Republic. It is the national personification of the nation, representing liberty and freedom; she is often presented as a young woman wearing classically-draped blue and white garments, wielding a spear and shield, and wearing a Phrygian cap. Eliana is widely depicted in the fields of art, politics and literature. A bust of her is commonly seen in city halls and state legislatures. Drawings of her date back to the late 1700s, owing to the fact that she was a unifying symbol the Amrelian people could identify with during the unstable Republic period.

National Day

Monument of the Founders

"March of the Amrelians"

"This beloved homeland
This dear fatherland
Was chosen for us
By God's wise hand.

To arms, Amrelians! To Arms!
Over land, over sea,
To Arms! To Arms!

Against the cannons, march on, march on!

Glory to the blessed name of our land, Glory to this brotherly union of peoples!"
