The Illustrious Republic of Ndarzi, also known as Ndarzi is a country in central Juznia. With a population of ~8,500,000 it is the largest of the Mataifasina Federation in population. The national capital is Dargali while the largest city and economic center is Kwene along the shore of Lake Tagabe. Within the Mataifasina Federation Ndarzi is bordered by Widongou to the north, and Kataiaka to the south, outside the federation it has a maritime boundry with with Pantsville along the shore of Lake Tagabe. Centered along the north shore of the Tagabe river (name subject to change) Ndarzi was first inhabited over 100k years ago.
(Write medieval period when decided).
Ndarzi was subject to a small amount of settlers from Wurgelia coming in from Hansan Wurgelia in the late 1800s but overal resisted colonisation due to its isolation. However the tribes of present day Ndarzi constantly fought and the region remained weak and divided.
In 1964, Ndarzi was subject to a coup which overthrew the current president and put the military in charge however a civil war quickly ensued. By 1966 Port Banderian forces backed by Pantsville and Orleaux invaded and forced Ndarzi into the Mataifasina Federation. At first the Banderians had a brutal dictatorship which heavily united the federation under president Matsolo Dwena from 1966-1981. Upon his death the Federation lost all nominal control but remained on paper. Post Dwena Ndarzi was still poor but movement towards democracy was made. The Ndarzi Republic was founded in 1982 and the first election was held once the first Matafasina Civil War finished in 1985. Winning the election was Asani Ndarmena but he quickly consolidated power and refused to hold more elections. Under Ndarmena various reforms were held and peace was more or less maintained but Ndarzis place within the Federation was questioned.
In 1994 Ndarmena was couped by the army and a military junta was put in place. The junta then declared war on neighboring Kataiaka to the south in an effort to exterminate the sturmist government. However it ended with both nations destablized. In 1997, IDA forces entered the nation in an effort to restore order and in 2000 the millienium government or the Second Maitafasina Federation was established. After 2000 President Ahadi Baraswe was elected president and co leader of the Maitafasina Federation until his death in 2018. Upon his death his son Shani Baraswe took power and has refused to recognise Ndarzi as a part of the Federation. Since 2018 violence has flared up and forced disapearences and kidnappings have risen drastically as Ndarzi consolidates power seemingly is preparing for independence.
Ndarzi is moderatly rich is natural resources but suffers from political insttability, lack of infrastructre and a large amount of corruption. Outside of the southeast corner of the nation there is little development due to heavy jungle and poor soil.
