Nordland is a Region of Greater Normark that lies in the northern parts of the country. The capital and largest city is Malmfjell, with a population of 15,000. Other towns of note in the region are Duottar and Deagganjukcá.
The region of Nordland was for a long time a part of the historical region of Skogelag, due to the low population which comes from the fact that the area is mostly uninhabitable tundra. It got it's name of Nordland in 1897, but the area it covered was much larger and consisted the majority of northern Normark. In the late 1960s the area experienced a population boom after huge investments in hydroelectricity in the area and the founding of several smaller mines that mined coal, iron and rare earth minerals. Most of these mines are closed in today, and the population has decreased since it's peak of 95,000 in 2003.
