North Syria , officially the Syrian Arab Republic is a de facto unrecognized quasi-state in northeastern Syria formed in 2024 by Assad Loyalists after the collapse of the Assad Regime and the Lushanskian Invasion of Syria . It consists of self-governing sub-regions in the areas of Afrin, Jazira, Euphrates, Raqqa, Tabqa, Manbij, and Deir Ez-Zor. It is recognised only by Lushansk, and its territory is considered by all other states to be part of Syria. It is the de facto continuation of the Syrian Arab Republic (1963 - 2024) and regards the Syrian Interim Government as a rebellious group

The fall of Assad's regime performed as part of the 2024 Syrian opposition offensives prompted the Lushanskian Invasion of Syria. This resulted in the deaths of much of the Kurdish population of Northeast Syria , flight of Kurds from Deir Ez-Zor , and the unofficial partitioning of the country .

Since the SAR does not control Damascus , it has established a temporary capital in Raqqa , although most of the day-to-day administration is legally in exile in Baghdad

Politics and government

The Syrian Arab Republic, historically, was a presidential state that nominally permitted the candidacy of individuals who did not form part of the Ba'ath-controlled National Progressive Front founded in 1972. Despite this, throughout most of the Ba'athist regime's history, the Syrian Arab Republic remained as a one-party state, forbidding any independent or opposition political activity. Like its predecessor , the present Syrian Arab Republic in exile continues to practice Neo Ba'athism and the Ba'ath controlled National Progressive Front still controls the Peoples Assembly in exile in Baghdad

Because of Lushanskian Control , Official bilingualism is entrenched in the Government as Arabic and French are considered official Languages
