Number Stations (Averius)
Number stations are an important part of Averius radio cryptography. These radio stations provide alphanumeric codes to send intended recipients encoded messages. These codes are top-secret, not known outside of the Empire.
AM Radio Number Stations
AM Radio Number Stations use a automated or semi-automated messaging system allowing music and news reports to be given by automated systems with alphanumeric codes being provided once every half-hour. These stations typically run a magnetic tape recording every thirty minutes. These 16-bit sound tapes transmit 1.44 MB of sound data for 25 minutes before switching over to the code-based transmissions.

Alphanumeric Codes
Alphanumeric codes are in four sets of 4-bit bit-codes. The First Set is to indicate a status. The Second Set is to indicate a general status condition. The Third Set is a War Readiness Indicator. The Fourth Set is to indicate various weather conditions. Each 5 minute interval for these codes can fit in 16 different code combinations. If there is nothing to report, the codes presented would be "NULL, NULL, NULL, Watt Omicron Zeta Alpha".

Automated Codes
Unlike Alphanumeric Codes, fully automatic stations are designed to use code-words and phrases rather than numbers, such that codes need not be memorized. These stations feature synthetic voices reading off codes for five minutes every 0th and 30th minute of each hour.
Typically, the message will be presented as "Good Day, this is [Radio Station Designation], at this [Time] on this [Day of Week], the [Day of the month] of [Month], of the year [Year], here is the weather. [Cloud Code].[Temperature Code].[Rain Code].[Weather Condition Code]. The Military is at [Readiness Code].[Military Code]. The Minutemen are to [Minutemen Code]. Police should [Police Code].[Transit Code].[Border Code].[Trade Code].[Airway Code].[Diplomatic Code].[Empire Code]. Here at the Station, [System Code]. Also, [Special Code]."
