Ogbei National University, also known as ONU or Ogdae, is a public research university centred in Ogbei, Ansan. The university was founded in 1871 by Gaullican colonial authorities as Sangte College. The college was founded to educate pro-Gaullican Ansene on colonial management and Euclean society. The original colonial college merged with Sawonhaggyo, the oldest and premier Cheongung monastic school, in 1950. This new institution was called the National University While Sawonhaggyo dates to the 11th century CE, the founding date for Sangte College is used due as it is the start of Euclean-style standardized collegiate education.
Following the merger of Sawonhaggyo and Sangte College in 1950, the university rapidly expanded its campus in and around Ogbei. In addition to theological and government studies, the university quickly added professional development and trades programs under government direction to fill critical shortages in the Ansene workforce. In 1981, National University opened the College of Medical Studies and Health Sciences, which today is the premier medical school in Ansan. Following the founding of National University System in 1994, the institution was renamed to Ogbei National University.
Ogdae is organized into several consituent colleges. Colleges are organized into faculties and departments. There are over 50 faculties across the university, with the largest being the Medical and Health Sciences faculty, the Engineering Faculty, and the Social Sciences(Euclean) faculty. There are five departments inside each college: preparatory, baccalaureate, graduate, doctoral, and professional.
