Ossenland (Ossenlandic: Оßенланd transcribed as Ossenland), or officially the Federation of Ossenland (Ossenlandic: Феdерѧћя Оßенланd t. Federaytschya Ossenland) is a sovereign nation in Terrenore. It is a Federal Semi-Presidential Constitutional Republic. Bordered by !ALASKA and !I DUNNO YET to the West and !STUFF to the South, the nation has a population of over 295 million, one of the largest in the world. It is the largest state by landmass in Terrenore, and occupies the majority of the northern and central parts of the continent, stretching from the !Atlantic to the !Pacific Sea. It's Capitol is the Baro-founded Brandebourg, and the largest city is the Strannish-settled Onshuis, both of which are on the Eastern half of the nation.
Originally inhabited by native peoples, !European colonists from various nations arrived in the late 1400s, jumping off from !Iceland, !Greenland, and !Islandland. Originally !Nordic in nature, these were supplanted largely by Baro, Saeglish, Strannish, and Leuttic speaking colonists, dividing the eastern portion of the coast of Ossenland between various regional powers. Starting in the 1760s, Metsian colonists arrived on the other side of the nation as well as the northern areas, and !European settlers began to push in on the continent from both sides, before linking up after the Colonial Revolt of 1725 in around 1792. Forming a loose confederation, a Republic was formed before an Emperor, Gordon the First, took power in the 1810s. After a brief civil war, a secession crisis occurred in the 1840s and 1850s. A lengthy period of instability followed alongside industrialization, resulting in a Republic being re-established in 1896. A second Empire was established in 1923, before being supplanted by another republic in 1950, which has remained in power since then despite the efforts of many Monarchist movements.
During the !Cold War, Ossenland was involved in numerous foreign conflicts as a part of !Alliance, including numerous interventions in the !Caribbean, !Africa, and !Oceania. These numerous foreign conflicts eventually led to the breakup of !Alliance, with Ossenland leaving in 1995.
Ossenland is a contributing member to the !United Nations, the !World Health Organization, and the !some other organization. Considered to be one of the foremost cultural powers in the world, Osenland is seen by many nations as a trendsetter in global politics and culture, with the shifting between Monarchy and Republicanism being indicative of general political shifts between liberalism and conservatism worldwide. A large nation with many subdivisions and regions and large variations in culture depending on location, Ossenland is considered an Empire, though a Republican one, in it's own right.
Ossenland is widely considered to be one of the wealthiest and most militarily powerful nations on the planet, and maintains extensive foreign deployments.
Etymology
"Ossenland," simply put, means "Autumn land" in Ossenlandic Creole, derived from the Metsian Осень, or "osen'."
