The community, constructed between 1776 and 1783, was established at the height of the mining period in the area. Prior to the establishement of the monastery, the site housed the Chapel of Brother Lawrence, which was inaugurated on May 27, 1638. The original chapel was destroyed to built the current location, but the two side altars were preserved and can be seen at the entrance of the church, one on each side.

The altar has a Baroque statue of Our Lady Mother of Men carved in wood in one piece with gold painted clothes, coming from Cadenza in 1784. The Sanctuary, which has been visited by several Chancellors and other important members of the former Imperial and current Confederate government is listed as a protected place by the Confederate Monument Bureau.
